Homoeus Malabaricus 2025

The Homoeus Malabaricus 2025 was the 38th Annual Convention and 106th Scientific Seminar hosted by The Institution of Homoeopaths Kerala (IHK), Malappuram District Committee. Spanning May 17th and 18th, 2025, at Rose Lounge, Malappuram, the convention’s core themes circled Resistance, Culture, Homoeopathy, Football, Nature, and Literature.

A striking testament to the event's reverence for tradition was the stage setup featuring huge portraits of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann and other pioneers adorned with garlands. Before the main convention commenced, the team launched a public awareness campaign against lifestyle diseases and drug abuse via a street play at Kottakkunnu.

"Homoeopathic Innovate 2025" Hackathon

This event featured the first-ever hackathon within this convention: "Homoeopathic Innovate 2025".

I was thrilled to present and demonstrate RemedyView AR, my augmented reality application designed to revolutionize the way students interact with Materia Medica. Exploring the integration of spatial computing and AI with classical clinical practice on stage was a massive step for technological integration in our field.

While I did not secure the winning prize in the hackathon, the reception was overwhelmingly positive. Following my presentation, several delegates approached me with incredible suggestions for its development—one standout idea involved unifying Materia Medica and the Repertory with the ICD by generating a universal codebase for homoeopathic prescriptions. It was a catalyst for fresh, unbridled ideas.

The Science of Materia Medica in Paediatrics

Beyond the hackathon, the scientific sessions were profoundly enriching. Dr. M. Radhakrishnan Nair delivered a masterclass titled "The Science of Materia Medica: When the Right Remedy Meets the Right Case."

He emphasized the Art of Observation in paediatric case-taking—from the exact Mode of Entry a child exhibits walking into the clinic to evaluating sleep clues (abdomen, back, knee-chest) and play behaviors indicative of remedies like Tuberculinum, Calcarea Carbonica, or Medorrhinum. His session debunked myths surrounding conditions initially mistaken as convulsions (like childhood masturbation behaviors observed in Staphysagaria cases) and stressed understanding psychological hazards causing encopresis, such as maternal stress or the birth of a sibling. Deep dives into Baryta Carb, Aurum Metallicum, and Calcarea Phos followed, shedding a brilliant light on how remedies actively modulate the pediatric gut microbiota to boost immune function.

Panel Discussion: "Little Lungs, Big Challenges"

Another cornerstone was the panel exploring respiratory care in early life, moderated by Dr. P S Kedarnath. Expert panelists, including Dr. Sujatha R, laid down specific therapeutic protocols for common afflictions such as:

• Common Cold & Sinusitis: Utilizing Avena Sat Q, Camphor Q, Nat Carb 1M, etc.
• Asthma & Croup: Mapping Carbo Veg 10M or Ars Alb for intense acute distress.
• Post-Influenza Pneumonia & Otitis Media: Exploring Phos 200, Kali & Merc groups.

The overarching takeaway from this panel was the challenge against the myth that acute remedies inherently suppress a deep constitutional treatment. They successfully argued that both lines of treatment operate in harmony when administered judiciously.

Event Logistics and Conclusion

Rounding out the event was seamless logistics, featuring technology like SnapShare for AI facial-recognition-based photo sharing for delegates. The convention ran relentlessly, abandoning formalized tea breaks to allow the massive stream of academic knowledge to flow unimpeded. The integration of technology in Homoeopathy is inevitable, and the incredible coverage by regional media such as Kerala Kaumudi proves its massive public footprint.
