SciFest 2025 Hackathon

Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend and participate in SciFest 2025, a mega science exhibition and hackathon organized to celebrate the 50th Anniversary (Golden Horizon) of The Dale View group of institutions. It was an incredibly busy, fun-filled, and inspiring day where technology, healthcare, and education beautifully intersected.

Here is a look back at my experience presenting my own innovation, catching up with brilliant friends, and enjoying some deeply nostalgic moments!

Pitching "HolisticConnect" at the Hackathon

Representing my current institution as an MD Scholar at White Memorial Homoeopathic Medical College, I participated in the SciFest Hackathon. I presented my project, HolisticConnect, an AI-Enhanced Telemedicine Platform for Integrative Healthcare.

During my pitch, I highlighted the current healthcare access gap (where 70% of India's population lacks access to quality healthcare) and how we can bridge it by empowering underutilized complementary medicine practitioners. My solution proposed a robust tech stack—utilizing openEHR, Next.js, Django, and deep learning models like Med-BERT—to create a smart symptom analyzer and a seamless virtual consultation suite.

Although I didn't win the hackathon this time, standing on that stage and receiving my participation certificate was a highly rewarding experience. Pitching my ideas to the judges, fielding their questions, and seeing the audience engage with the concept of AI-driven holistic healthcare was a major win in itself.

A Proud Moment at the Sarada Krishna Stall

One of the most heartwarming moments of the day happened while I was exploring the exhibition area. My previous institution, Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College (SKHMC), had set up a stall highlighting the achievements of their Institution's Innovation Council.

To my absolute surprise and pride, I saw my own certificates and past achievements—bagged during my time as a student there—proudly displayed on their boards! Seeing my former college showcase my work as an inspiration for current students was a deeply humbling and validating "full-circle" moment for me.

Supporting White Memorial's Exhibits

While the hackathon kept me on my toes, my current college, White Memorial Homoeopathic Medical College, was also actively participating in the mega exhibition. Our college had put up a brilliant academic stall showcasing various anatomy and biochemistry specimens. It was great to see our students and faculty interacting with the public, explaining complex medical concepts, and representing our institution with so much passion.

Catching Up With Friends and Fellow Innovators

A major highlight of the event was getting to spend the whole day with my best friends and juniors, Dr. Ricky Mahadevan and Dr. Athith Sesha, who were also competing in the hackathon.

  • Dr. Ricky gave a fantastic presentation on a digitized Nadi Measuring Machine, merging traditional diagnostic methods with modern technology.
  • Dr. Athith presented a compelling pitch focused on preventative healthcare engagement, digital health equity, and expected clinical outcomes in low-resource settings.

Watching them present their cutting-edge ideas with such confidence was fantastic. The hackathon was highly competitive, but being able to cheer each other on made the pressure fade away.

Exploring the Mega Exhibition

Beyond the hackathon, the scale of SciFest 2025 was breathtaking. The exhibition featured exclusive pavilions from prestigious organizations, including an incredible setup by ISRO showcasing satellite models and next-gen avionics. Walking through these exhibits and interacting with students, researchers, and faculty from different institutions was an absolute treat for a science enthusiast.

Final Thoughts

SciFest 2025 was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of science, community, and the future of healthcare. Even though I didn't take home the first prize, the real reward was the experience itself—the thrill of the pitch, the pride of seeing my past work honored by my alma mater, representing my current college, and spending a memorable day surrounded by my closest friends and inspiring innovators.

I'm walking away with fresh perspectives, a refined vision for HolisticConnect, and great memories. Onward and upward!
