Zephyros Onam Celebration After Movie

This was the one and only grand Onam celebration during my time at Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College. I was in my 2nd year of medical school with the batch 'Zephyros'. Shortly after this event, the COVID-19 pandemic began, and by the time we returned to college, we were in our final year, making this celebration surprisingly significant in hindsight.

The Celebration

It was a fun and happy event where we went all out:

• Decorations: We created a massive flower carpet (Athapoo) and decorated an entire room with flowers, winning the Athapoo competition. I was personally involved in creating the flower carpet.
• Characters: Batchmates dressed up as legendary characters including the Sage and King Mahabali. I performed as the Theyyam, a traditional ritual artform, while others dressed as Kolam and Kathakali dancers.
• Events: The day was packed with activities like the Thiruvathira dance. We also dominated the sports events, winning the Tug of War, Uri Adi (pot breaking), and the Slippery Pole climbing competition.

Production & Editing

The project involved processing over 250 individual clips. Interestingly, these were all captured using a single camera (Canon 200D) which was passed around between three of us (Myself, Joel C Chako, and Anathu B R Ram). When I was performing (Theyyam) or working on the flower carpet, the others took over filming, and vice-versa.

• Storytelling: The edit focuses on narrative flow, capturing the energy of the day from the early preparations to the final celebrations.
• Color Correction: A major challenge was correcting and matching footage with widely varying brightness levels and lighting conditions.
• Rhythmic Editing: Utilized time remapping and slow motion to sync the visuals with the beat of the soundtrack ("It's Gonna Be Alright" - Netsky & t1rRemix), creating a "thunderstorm" effect that matched the event's tagline.
