iBall CompBook Excelance Review

Although this video hit YouTube in November 2018, the footage is a time capsule from February 10, 2017. I had just finished my 12th-grade board exams and was in that anxious limbo waiting for medical school admissions.

While my future career was buffering, my passion for tech was already running at full speed—specifically, on a ₹9,999 budget laptop.

The "Excelance" Experience

The iBall CompBook Excelance was my weapon of choice. For less than $150, you got a machine that could technically run Windows 10 (albeit the 32-bit version on a 64-bit processor, a paradox I was quick to point out).

In this review, I didn't just unbox it; I put it through the wringer:

• The Gaming Test: Yes, I tried to game on it. No, it didn't go well. But Hungry Shark Evolution? Playable!
• The "Aluminum Foil" Mod: The passive cooling wasn't cutting it, with temps hitting 70°C. My solution? Opening it up and stuffing aluminum foil inside to act as a DIY heat sink. Did it work? Well, the laptop didn't melt, so I'm calling it a win.
• The Battery Life: The one true superpower of this device. It ran for 10-12 hours on a single charge, outlasting most modern MacBooks of that era.

Why Watch?

Beyond the specs, this video is about making the most of what you have. It features my early editing style, a "picture-in-picture" thermal mod reveal, and a field test where I literally walked out into the street to prove the webcam was... well, usable if you stood directly under the sun.
